YB Wong Hon Wai, YB Lim Hock Seng and YB Danny Law jointly graced the Dotting ceremony of two newly acquired LED Lighted Dragons of the Persatuan Sukan dan Kebudayaan Tiong Hua in Kepala Batas, said to be the first ever of such LED lighted dragons in West Malaysia.

(北海14日訊)威省甲拋峇底華人體育會從中國引進2頭發光二極體(LED)龍,成為北馬首個擁有這項先進科技的龍獅團。檳州政府已邀請該龍獅團11月20日在檳城大橋馬拉松賽中表演舞LED龍,讓民眾和遊客大開眼界。

這兩頭LED龍,每頭造價1萬令吉,目前在西馬只有一頭,而北馬則是該體育會第一個引進。
該體育會是獲得兩位檳州行政議員黃漢偉和羅興強贊助,以及熱心的商家支持,花費2個月的時間從中國引進,而這兩頭LED龍為金龍和彩龍。

80粒LED燈

兩頭舞龍全身有超過80粒LED燈,支撐龍身的鐵杆,每段都有一個啟動器,並需靠AA電池來觸動燈光發亮,惟一般上只能維持1小時。

不過,裝上LED燈的龍在夜空下舞動時,全身閃閃發亮,不但生動,也充滿美感。

羅興強與黃漢偉週四受邀為兩頭LED龍主持點睛儀式。檳州旅遊委員會主席羅興強說,今年的檳城大橋跑的參賽者估計能突破2萬4000多人,為讓人民一睹其風彩,檳州政府已邀請該體育會在該比賽中表演。

他稱,州政府將在今年推動多項旅遊節目,包括於本周六和周日(15日和16日)與印尼領事館配合,在舊關仔腳舉辦美食節。

他說,在10月22日和23日,邀請來自廣西和廈門的中國舞蹈團來檳城表演,11月25日和泰國領事館,在舊關仔腳辦泰國美食節。

檳州行政議員黃漢偉說,明年是龍年,他希望該體育會隊員能加緊鍜練,因為屆時會有很多商家和團體邀請他們出隊表演。

他稱,舞獅舞龍也是一門充滿挑戰性的藝術運動,除了高樁表演外,在舞步方面也須不斷創新。
該會主席兼創辦人賴國平說,該會創立于1998年,至今已有13年,會所的土地由父親所捐獻。

"我們當時一無所有,只有一頭醒獅,會員也不多,但在大家的努力下,很快就成立一支舞獅隊,在新年出外采青。"

他說,在各理事和隊員不辭勞苦下,該會發展到今日的規模,擁有30多頭醒獅。

Pengecatan Flat Kampung Melayu

ADUN Air Itam, YB Wong Hon Wai, mengumumkan bahawa pengecatan Blok B Kampung Melayu akan bermula 24-10-2011 di mana Kerajaan Negeri menanggung 80% kos dan 20% adalah sumbangan pihak swasta. Ini akan menceriakan kawasan tersebut dan memberikan imej baru kepada flat awam tersebut.

甘榜馬來由B座組屋 私人企業贊助粉刷

 (檳城15日訊)亞依淡區州議員黃漢偉為甘榜馬來由B座政府組屋捎佳音,他已爭取到私人企業公司贊助粉刷費用,並將于本月24日(星期一)展開粉刷工程。

 他指出,較早前檳州首長林冠英宣佈,州政府將承擔政府組屋80%的重漆費用,其余20%由組屋居民承擔;然而,黃漢偉已協助甘榜馬來由的兩座組屋中,其中一座獲私人企業贊助20%的粉刷重漆費用。

 他說,16層樓高的B座組屋20%粉刷費用為5萬4000令吉,工程將在本月24日展開,並于12個星期后竣工。

撥133萬更換電線

 黃漢偉是昨日出席于甘榜馬來由鄉委會會所舉辦的"與領袖共餐"茶會上,作出上述宣佈,該茶會也邀得檳州第一副首長拿督曼梳出席。

 黃漢偉指出,在本月6日的甘榜馬來由鄉委會會議上,鄉委會已接受有關粉刷組屋的建議書。

 "但由于有關經費並不足以承擔兩座組屋的20%油漆費用,因此先油漆B座,至于A座則將在下次獲取更多資金后,才展開油漆工程。"

 黃漢偉指出,其實政府已在今年7月撥款133萬令吉,更換A座組屋所有電線。

 另外,據他了解,打槍埔F座組屋也將在不久后展開重漆工程。

 檳州第一副首長曼梳說,鄉委會的組織乃是州政府欲使到民間組織更為活躍而所做的一項努力,以便該組織成為政府與人民之間的橋樑,可以下情上達,上情下達。

 他指出,州政府展開美化組屋的工程,也是為了讓人民住得更舒服。

 他說,州政府制度化撥款給各源流學校,是因為注重教育,但遺憾的中央政府並沒有做到這一點。

Tamil school gets pleasant surprise from well-wisher

SJK (T) Rajaji got a RM2,000 boost during its Sports Day at the City Stadium in George Town, Penang.

The 69-year-old school, which is located on a small 300sq m plot in Air Itam, received the donation from a well-wisher, project manager Kong Poh Beng.

Kong handed over a cheque for the amount to head-master N.K. Chandra Segar in a simple ceremony witnessed by Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai.

"We can do a lot for the school with this money. I am grateful by the kind gesture," Chandra Segar said.

Wong said the donation showed that kindness could cut across racial lines.

He had earlier officiated at the opening of the Sports Day and later gave out medals to the winners of the various events.

A total of 102 students and former students took part in the 39 events.

Chandra Segar said this was the first time the school's Sports Day was held in a stadium.

"All the students are very excited," he added.

Arts Exhibition: Celebrating Heritage Sites: Fujian and George Town

GEORGE TOWN: Though held for only five days, the solo art exhibition by impressionist artist Chong Hon Fatt, 68, is drawing throngs of visitors.

Titled Duo Heritage Site Oil Exhibition, Chong's 40 paintings depicting heritage sites in China and George Town are currently on display at the Equator Academy of Art gallery in Leith Street until today.

Chong said the paintings would be taken to Ipoh for an exhibition from Friday to Sunday in conjunction with the World Hakka Conference.


"I was commissioned by the local authorities of Yong Tin district in Fujian Province in China to do a series of paintings on the heritage sites there for an exhibition in conjunction with the world conference," said Chong who has a penchant for painting heritage sites.

"I made five trips to China over a 10-month period starting last year and was taken to various heritage sites in Yong Tin by the organisers," added Chong.

Coincidentally, Yong Tin and George Town were declared Unesco World Heritage Sites on the same day.


Self-taught, Chong's style of painting using thick swatches of colour was greatly influenced by the maestro Vincent Van Gogh.

"I always draw in sunlight as it makes me feel the warmth of the sun, besides giving the paintings the necessary toning and depth."

After decades in the art scene, Chong has accumulated about 2,000 paintings including seascapes and landscapes.


State Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai officiated at the opening. His office is also the co-organiser together with the Penang Khek Association, North Peninsula Malaysia Yungting Association and the Argyll Road and Transfer Road Village Security and Development Committee.
